Another summer gone by another off-season closer to your goal. “Making it” means making your dreams a reality. It means making others eat their words. It means making other players jealous. Making it means you did what others couldn’t. A life dedicated to hockey is time well spent. It’s time put to use. It’s not spare time it’s all the time. Destiny looks like dedication. It looks like your sweat stained shirt. It looks like a 5am run through the fog. Destiny has no distractions.
Looking back what will you see? Will you see a summer of satisfaction? or will you see a summer of regret. Could have been, should have been. What did you do? Did you train hard enough? Did you go the extra mile? Did you get that second wind? Did you go for one last rep? one last lap? One more skate? What did you do? What do you want to be?
I don’t want to be the best hockey player. I want to be the best hockey player that ever lived, I don’t want to be something, I want to be someone. I want to be better than the best. Another day of dedication not distraction. Another night in the gym. Another night not at the party. What’s my excuse? It’s not because I’m too tired. It’s not because my favorite show is on. It’s not because I have a hot date. It’s not because I have to get up early. It’s not because I have homework… It’s because I’m the first one to show up and the last one to leave. It’s because I have better things to do… it’s because I have work to do. No excuses, just results.
